Technology Development Team

Over the past 15 years the group has worked on method development for genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and DNA sequencing using mass spectrometry. Developed methods are the GOOD assay and riboDNA sequencing. These methods were extensively used for different aspects of genotyping and sequencing in high-throughput studies.

Since 2002 de novo methods development has started to focus of methods for protein analysis. Recent developments have been an A2M2S (Affinity Arrays and MALDI Mass Spectrometry) which allows multiplex quantitative profiling of target proteins and TAMSIM (TArgeted multiplex Mass Spectrometry IMaging) for imaging of multiple candidate proteins in histological sections simultaneously by mass spectrometry.

The CNG technology development team is also involved in the integration of novel genotyping and sequencing methods into the operation of the CNG. Recent integration are the Illumina, Affymetrix and SNPlex genotyping platforms, the gene expression platform, the epigenetic platform and proteome discovery platform.

Currently integration programmes for a Illumina/Solexa sequencing platform and several proteomics platforms are underway.
